How do I order?
Adding products
First, peruse the products that we offer. To order a particular product, simply click on the "Add to Cart" icon. The next screen will show all the products in the cart and the current total order value. This screen will allow quantity changes as well as complete product removals from the cart.
To continue shopping, click on the "Continue Shopping" button or proceed to "Checkout" to finalize the order.
Checkout
Step 1 (Addresses): Upon proceeding to the checkout, fill out the billing and shipping address information. Click on the Continue button to go on to the next step.
Step 2 (Payment): Payment can be made via credit card, money order or check. Enter the corresponding information and then click on the Continue button.
Step 3 (Verification): Review the order, billing and shipping information. If there is anything to correct, simply hit the Back Arrow on your browser and go back to Steps 1&2 to make any adjustments.
If all the order information is correct, click on the "Place Order" button at the bottom of the screen. The order will then be automatically sent for processing.
A receipt for the order will then appear on the screen. It is suggested you print out this page for your records. A copy of this same receipt will also be sent to the e-mail address provided in Step 1.
Can I fax my order?
If preferred, fax the order to us at: 505-244-9222 Simply print and fill out our fax order form and then fax to us at the above number.

Simply go through the same order process (described above). But when in Step 3, print out the page and fax it, instead of clicking on the Place Order button (which would finalize your order).
Can I phone in my order?
If you don't have a fax or feel uncomfortable ordering on-line, you can phone your order in by calling: 800-810-9939 (US only). Please note that this line is for orders only. Requests for technical information should be placed here on our Sales Support System. Or post it to our Forum for the fastest response.
We suggest you go through the process of on-line ordering up until the point where you are asked for your credit card. Then just print out the page and use it as a reference when you phone your order in.
What are my options for paying?
Currently all US & Canadian customers can pay by VISA, Mastercard, Discover @ American Express, money order or check. In the cases of money order and check, the order will be processed and shipped after the receipt and clearance of the money order or check.
Is ordering on-line safe?
Affordable Solar uses the latest technology to protect your credit card information and does not release it to any outside organization. If your browser is SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption capable, your transactions with us are automatically encrypted by Netscape's SSL encryption (the Internet standard for secure transactions).
I live outside the USA or Canada, can I place an order?
Yes. However, we require that all orders made from outside the USA or Canada be prepaid by check, money order or wire transfer. Credit cards will not be accepted. The order will be processed and shipped after receipt and clearance of the money order or check. Please make the check payable to:

How long does it usually take to ship orders?
For domestic US orders made by credit card, we usually ship within 48 hours. Shipment time is usually 7-10 days. For larger item orders, it may require 1-2 weeks. If you do not receive your shipment within these time periods, please feel free to write us at sales@affordable-solar.com to verify the status of your shipment.
For orders outside of the US, shipment times will widely vary. The order will usually be shipped within 24 hours of clearance of the check or money order. A shipment notice will be sent via e-mail.
Returns
Merchandise purchased through Affordable Solar may be returned within 30 days of receipt for a refund or a credit towards your account only if in new and unopened/unused condition. Depending on the product a restocking fee may also be charged. In rare circumstances this would be up to 20% of the product's price. Trackers, mounts and the Staber clothes washer are generally not returnable. Shipping charges will not be refunded, unless an error was made by Affordable Solar in shipping. Before returning an item, you must have an RMA number. To get an RMA number, write us at: sales@affordable-solar.com
When returning any item, please include the packaging slip and the RMA number. Items must be returned in original packaging and in a re-sellable state, or additional replacement charges will apply.
Returns for refurbished equipment will not be accepted and should be processed through the manufacturer directly. Most refurbished equipment carry a manufacturer's warranty.
For Credit Card Orders:
Your credit card will be credited the amount of the purchase, less shipping charges, within 1-2 weeks of receipt of the returned merchandise.
For Orders Paid by Check:
A refund check will be sent to the billing address for the amount of the purchase, less shipping charges, within 1-2 weeks of receipt of the returned merchandise.
The value and cost of replacing any items missing (e.g. parts, manuals, etc.) will be deducted from the refund.
When returning merchandise we recommend using UPS or insured Parcel Post for your protection.

Damaged or defective items
If you receive a damaged or defective item, we will send you a replacement or issue you a full refund after you have returned the damaged or defective product. Please write us at sales@affordable-solar.com to get an RMA number to return your merchandise. You will not be charged any additional shipping or handling fees for replacement shipments.
Backorders (out of stock items)
Backordered merchandise includes items that are not currently in stock. In most cases, these items are on order from the manufacturers. In some cases, we are awaiting or researching stock information from one or more of our suppliers. When we receive the product, we notify you via e-mail and ship it to you promptly. Backordered products usually come into stock within 1 to 4 weeks but can occasionally take longer. If your order is not ready to ship within 30 days, we will send an update via e-mail
If for any reason we determine that a backordered item will no longer be available, we notify you immediately by e-mail and cancel the item from your order.
Credit card safety

As reported in a recent Knight-Ridder News Service article (which appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer), "In 1997, there were no reports of credit-card information stolen on the World Wide Web during a transfer of information over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line, the kind of line used by Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Explorer.
